Set up Sennheiser wireless clip mic

STEP 1: Before connecting to the camcorder, CHANGE THE SETTING of the XLR ADAPTER (IMPORTANT)
The wireless mic is powered by battery, so turn phantom power +48V OFF. Otherwise, it may damage the wireless device.

Using one set
Turn phantom power +48V OFF
REC CH SELECT set to Ch1.Ch2
Connect the receiver to Channel 1.



Using two sets
Turn phantom power +48V OFF
REC CH SELECT set Ch1
Connect the receivers to the adapter
You will hear sound separately left and right from two sets of mics. You will need to duplicate channel when editing.



Reset to use condenser mic / boom mic
Turn phantom power +48V ON
REC CH SELECT set to Ch1.Ch2
Connect the shotgun mic to Channel 1.


STEP 2 : connect the receiver to the camcorder and set up according to the demo clip

Do not miss the last part - monitor the audio level on your camcorder.

STEP 3: adjust audio level and rehearse your dialogue


Set the audio recording to manual mode and turn off auto gain (check specific camcorder manual)
And adjust the input level accordingly (ideal level: -12dB to -6dB). Closed headphone is recommended to monitor the sound.
Consider Signal to Noise Ratio, ie. As you increase the mic level, the noise will also increase.
Try to adjust the distance between the mic and the talent. Or adjust the sensitivity of the transmitters. Or adjust the AF output of the receiver.
