We will be watching the documentary film, Stanley Kubrick- A life in Pictures over the next two weeks. We have chosen this text because it provides a mock-up of the approach we would like you to take when constructing your Independent Study script. It is a documentary film about film with a clear filmic theme (the auteur) and which covers two cinematic traditions (US & UK). We will be assessing both the contribution made by Kubrick to cinematic history & the documentary conventions used to convey his directorial style.
