Y7 Digital Citizenship- Cybersafety

At South Island School we take your online safety very seriously. Having been one of the first ESF schools to adopt the 1-1 laptop scheme it is crucial that we all learn to use these fantastic learning tools in a respectful and ethically sound way. As part of your laptop induction in Y7, the InterD team will use resources from a famous American website (www.commonsensemedia.org) to support what we call Digital Citizenship. This is a term which suggests that just as we want you to be good citizens in your local communities, we also expect the same approach to the online world.

Initially you will explore these issues in 2x60mins sessions. The topics will be as follows:

Introduction- What's Cyberbullying?

Lesson 1- Cyberbullying: Be Upstanding

Lesson 2- Cyberbullying: Crossing the Line

23rd and 24th September: Laptop induction evenings for parents

Lesson 3- Safe Online Talk

Lesson 4- Trillion Dollar Footstep

As part of the lessons, various discussion points came up which we'd like to address with you:
